Ryan McGarry for Legislator
of Suffolk County’s 7th District
Throughout his career and in his personal life, Ryan McGarry has dedicated himself to public service and has a proven track record of working for us, the people of Suffolk County.
A devoted member of the community, Ryan is a proud Class A Firefighter in the Patchogue Fire Department and a member of the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce’s Civic Association. He currently serves on the Patchogue Village Zoning Board of Appeals after having served a term on the Village’s Community Development Agency. And, every day in his role as Suffolk AME’s Chief of Staff, he advocates on behalf of all working people and the dedicated municipal employees who provide invaluable essential services, keeping our County operational, and keeping our fellow residents safe.
After decades of service to our shared community, Ryan is ready to further serve the people of Suffolk by running for Legislator of our County’s 7th Legislative District.

From a young age, Ryan knew and understood that the best path toward achieving social and economic justice for our fellow citizens was through advocating on our behalf as working people. After earning his undergraduate degree from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Ryan has fought for working people through both his work in the Labor Movement and in local and regional government.

From the opioid epidemic to the criminals who have furthered it, Ryan McGarry is a moderate Democrat, ready to crack down on crime through his continued support of our brothers and sisters in uniform. Through his experience in government and with service organizations, Ryan has the knowledge and relationships to not only be tough on crime, but to work with communities to address the root issues that cause it.

Through his work as the former Director of Human Services in the Suffolk County Executive’s Office, Ryan McGarry was honored to work with the Veterans Services Agency and nonprofit veterans organizations. Playing an integral role in the creation and organization of the first three Suffolk County Marathon for Veterans events, Ryan is proud to have helped raise nearly $1 million for local, Suffolk County Veterans since 2015.

Infrastructure
“There was a time when investment in infrastructure was anything but controversial or partisan. To the contrary, public investment in infrastructure in roads, bridges, sewers, and clean water is a key underpinning of American capitalism, allowing goods and services and consumers and laborers to move through our economy efficiently, safely, and effectively… With so much to gain from infrastructure investment, it's hard to imagine why anyone would stand in opposition. …Political extremism may generate headlines and help politicians fundraise, but for the rest of us living here in the middle, we understand the value of jobs, of economic growth, and of strategic investment in our community's future. We in the middle are therefore thankful to those who have gone all-in on infrastructure.”

“I look forward to working with partners and elected officials, both old and new, from both sides of the aisle, who sincerely desire to work in the best interest of our communities and their constituents. Refusing to buy into the rhetoric of our time, I know the party affiliation of my neighbor is not enough to judge his or her commitment to - and love of - our shared America. I therefore look forward to what we will achieve together as neighbors and fellow Americans.”
